WHAT IS VENTILATION?

Ventilation is about helping air to circulate in your home. It allows moisture and airborne pollutants to escape, and fresh, clean air to be drawn into your home. Well-designed ventilation will provide cooling in summer. In winter, it will let stale air out but keep warmth in.

Fresh, filtered air is brought in, old air is removed. The Reliance ventilation system installed in your roof space changes the air in your home to expel excess moisture, toxins and odours created by cooking, cleaning, breathing and other sources. Incoming air is filtered to remove dusts, pollens and other contaminants, preventing mould and mildew for a fresher, healthier home.

Yes. A 2005 BRANZ survey of the condition of New Zealand homes found that many were damp and poorly ventilated. Most bathrooms relied only on windows for ventilation. Only half of kitchens vented moist air to the outside. And 40% of timber-framed homes had poor or seriously inadequate subfloor ventilation. Poor ventilation allows moisture and airborne pollutants to build up inside your home. This can cause health problems such as asthma for you and other members of your household. Moisture can also make your home uncomfortable to live in and damage its structure

At one time, it was possible to achieve natural ventilation in our homes by simply opening a window. However, with growing concerns about rising energy costs, we have been busy making homes “tighter” from an efficiency standpoint. Armed with weather stripping and caulk guns, we have eliminated air leaks from our homes. Unfortunately, that means contaminants have no way to escape.

That’s why RVS offers ventilation systems that help remove contaminants by exchanging stale, recirculated indoor air with fresh, filtered outside air.

Stale air not only consists of excessive moisture but also includes such things as dust, animal and cooking smells and even the carbon dioxide breathed out by the homeowners. These are all unhealthy and affect the overall wellness of the inhabitants. Exhausting the used stale air and replacing with fresh make up air is the best method of ensuring a healthy home environment.
The best answer to that is anytime of the year. Most people have systems installed over the winter months because that is when the moisture problem is clearly visible and evident however, during autumn, summer and spring that is the best time to be conditioning your home for the following winter if moisture or damp is your concern. Autumn is when hay fever and allergies are kicking off and this is an opportune time to have your home ventilated with a good filtration ventilation system to filter out the bulk of impurities, pollens and pollutants in the air to help keep your home healthier.

No ventilation system can claim a 100% eradication of condensation or moisture. To completely eradicate condensation you need to remove all moisture from the home which would be unhealthy and dangerous, or heat the home 24/7 maintaining a high temperature, this would be extremely expensive and unpractical. By lowering the moisture content in the home to ideally maintain a relative humidity level averaging 50%, will drastically ‘reduce’ the moisture and condensation levels.

Our Ventilation Systems are made using the latest technology and German engineering. The digital controllers know what to do and when to do it whether you are at home, asleep, at work or overseas.

By ventilating the home 24/7, our ventilation system conducts complete whole house air changes many times during the day. You should hardly notice any smells or odors after this. It is also very beneficial for the ‘smelly teenager’, those that smoke in their home or the renovator with painting fumes.
Your ventilation system or heat pump is installed by a local team of friendly, professionally-trained electricians. A new power point is installed to connect it and a certificate of compliance is issued for electrical work. They will find a time that’s convenient with you for installation. Then your installer will also talk you through how to get the perfect home environment using your new systems.
You would be shocked at the amount of moisture which is introduced into your home on a daily basis by merely existing in it. An average family of 4 introduces on average 30 litres of moisture per day. Would you ever allow someone to pour 2 buckets of water into your house everyday? Apart from running dehumidifiers in every room, 24/7, the average home has no systems in place to remove this moisture so believe us, your home is damp.
Dehumidifiers remove the moisture from the air in any given room. To remove the moisture from a house using dehumidifiers you would have to run 4 or 5 for extended periods of time. This is an expensive, unpractical and unhealthy option. Dehumidifiers can over dehumidify the air and in doing so can dehydrate the occupants which can be unhealthy and dangerous.
